You stumble your way over the fence, practically falling on your face as you somehow wind up in a heap on the ground. Cursing under your breath, you stand up and brush yourself off, only to find the fat policeman clutching at your pants leg. His words are no longer audible, merely gasps of air that are quickly nearing the bridge between life and death. After a quick (two seconds, really) hesitation, you step over the dying mass, following the shady guy as he puts away his gun. At this point you have left the backyard, and the brief thought of Where are all the other policeman? pops through your head before the business end of a hi

Burning Memories, Chapter 3
I hate fluorescent lights. The constant, angry, monotone of empathetic light, never ceasing, never dying. I forced my eyes away from them, only to return after finding nothing of interest in the room I was occupying at that moment. I was so focused on these stupid lights, that I had completely lost focus in all else. The heart monitor beeped, though it was lost to me. A nurse came in to check on me, just as she did every hour, but I said nothing. She left a few minutes later, scribbling something down on a clipboard before shutting the door behind her.
I couldnt help but continue watching the fluorescent lights as my thoughts

Burning Memories Chapter 2
Another wave of heat slammed into me, my arm involuntarily coming up to shield my already helmeted head. Through the cloud of fiery embers I could barely make out the form of Jen, and for a second I could hve sworn our eyes connected. But then she was gone, and I was standing in the midst of what I imagine Hell would resemble. Another second drawled itself out before I shook myself back to life, boots pounding against tortured wood that threatened to give out from under me with every step.
The radio rumbled on my shoulder, unintelligble static foaming out of it. I stoppped, attempting to ignore the never-ending flames licking at me hungrily.
Your eyes snap open, ripping your mind off the dreams that once inhabited it. This combined with the smell of pancakes from downstairs creates a particularly strange affect, causing you to groan and roll off the bed. The thump that resounds through the house alerts your mother, who immediately yells out to you, a calm assertive voice that questions your well being. You answer, groggily saying you are fine. You make a last-ditch attempt at getting up, your legs practically buckling under the weight of your body, which in fact hasn´t moved for ten hours or so. The next ten or fifteen minutes go in a haze to you. You vaguely remember doing
You manage to somehow stand up, trying not to think about your legs shaking like a crappy car on a bumpy road. After about two seconds of heated debate, you decide it would be best to go see where all the gunshots are coming from. Yes. That is what you are thinking. Totally genius. Anyway, you start to walk. At first you are shaking everywhere, but as the physical exertion of...walking...sets in, you stop shaking and actually start running towards the sound. The sun is high in the sky now, the morning long gone and the afternoon heat creating sweat drops around your forehead. Finally, you reach a fence. A heated argument is going on behind sa
The slow drawl of a wolf's howl enveloped the night sky. It seemed to reverberate off the moon itself, mingling with the eerie glow that cast across the forest below. Slowly, more howls joined the original, all of them sounding in a perfect tune that engulfed anything and everything within audible distance. The contant tone was a being in itself, a pulsating life that had it's own rhythymic beat. Then, just as the beating heart of the sounds became too much for even the most malevolent of animals, it was cut off all at once. An unnatural silence replaced it almost immediately, the creatures of the dense wood almost too afraid to continue on w

Burning Memories, chapter 1
Another rafter fell, crashing against the floor of the swiftly detoriorating building in a shower of sparks, effectively adding to the sea of fire that had already consumed over thee-fourths of the structure itself. A woman stood, clutching a child wrapped in a blanket to herself, as if protecting it from that which she knew she couldn't. Strangely, impossibly, no tears streaked her face. No sobs or choking screams emitted from her still, thin, lips. Only a sense of knowing resided there, a realization of sorts. The fires grew higher, hungrier, reaching a level of heat that would drive any sane person away. Yet there she stood, smiling and no

I've grown another half of an inch (Quoth the doctor, "IMPOSSIBLE!"), dropped all my swimming times enough to get to the regional level, and then epic failed and didn't even go to finals lol. Whoopee.
The extent of the damage to my house was :
1) A broken fence
2) Shingles flying off the roof
3) A slightly broken window
4) Some water on the kitchen floor because someone LEFT THE WINDOW SLIGHTLY OPEN.

As I'm sure most of you are aware of, Ike completely destroyed most of Galveston and then much of the area leading from Galveston to Houston. Needless to say, I won't be visiting Galveston for a while.
